If you’re having a hard time remembering when February was ever this cold, you’re not alone.
John Mayers is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Cleveland Bureau. He says there’s been a long string of exceptionally cold temperatures recorded this month, that could extend into March.
“And as far as Februaries go, looking back the coldest February was in 1875 with an average temp of 15.2," says Mayers. "And so far for the month of February the average temperature has been 15 degrees. So right now we’re in the Number 1 spot for the coldest February.”
Mayers says typically, highs should be near 40 by now.
