Update: In an emailed statement, DeWine spokeswoman Lisa Hackley said the attorney general is feeling better after a bout of vertigo, but will spend the night in the hospital for observation.
Attorney General Mike DeWine was the scheduled guest speaker at the First Friday business and community leaders luncheon in Cincinnati.
A DeWine aide says he wasn’t feeling well and left the room before starting his speech, and though the aide didn’t elaborate on DeWine’s symptoms, he says the attorney general did not collapse publicly or lose consciousness.
DeWine was taken to Christ Hospital as a precaution. The aide says DeWine’s planned speech at a Republican Party function in Delaware County tonight is cancelled. The 67-year-old DeWine is running for his second term as AG.
