Activists Ask Kasich To Give Pardon For Akron Mom

More than 165 thousand petition signatures have been delivered to Ohio Governor John Kasich, urging him to pardon Kelly Williams Bolar. She’s the Akron Mom who was convicted of two felonies for falsifying documents so her children could go to what she considered a better public school district. Iris Roley with a group called “A Color of Change” says Williams Bolar’s situation is not unique so she should not be penalized so harshly.

Others who are backing the pardon effort say they’ve also found ways to put their kids in a better suburban school district where they can’t afford to live. Ohio Governor John Kasich says he’s been looking into the case of Williams Bolar and says he believes, on the surface, that the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. If the conviction against Williams Bolar stands, she will not be able to keep her job as an aide in a school.
