Strickland and Kasich Disagree On Green Policy

Governor Ted Strickland has signed an executive order to speed up legislature approved tax breaks for green energy companies that invest in Ohio in the near future. Strickland says he thinks this will convince businesses who are thinking about Ohio to make the decision to locate and add jobs here. Strickland says he's concerned about comments made by his opponent, Republican John Kasich, in recent weeks that he would change a law that requires more green energy development in Ohio.

A spokesman for Kasich, Rob Nichols, says the Republican Gubernatorial candidate does not oppose the renewable energy standard and would not seek to repeal it. As part of that written statement, Nichols goes on to say Kasich wants to expand the state's energy choices and quote.....wants to do everything possible to prevent Ohio's utilities from having to buy expensive electricity from other states and raise prices on businesses and homeowners.....unquote. Strickland says the law contains measures to prevent that from happening and notes Ohioans pay less on their electric bills than residents of most other states.
