Stimulus Money Decision Questioned

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio's environmental agency says it is
reviewing a decision to give federal stimiulus money to help clean
up a Cold War-era weapons site that may not be contaminated.
The state EPA has proposed giving $1 million from President
Barack Obama's economic stimulus package to a private company to
treat groundwater at the site near Ashtabula in northeast Ohio. The
company says contaminated soil remains.
But the U.S. Energy Department says its cleanup program ended
two years ago and that there are no outstanding environmental
issues.
The Ohio EPA says it is working to verify the status of the
property. No stimulus money has gone out, and the agency hasn't
determined if the project will stay on its final list.
A decision is expected in about two weeks.
