Obama in Northeast Ohio Friday

President-elect Obama plans to visit a Bedford Heights company that makes parts for the wind energy industry, as he tries to shore up support for his economic stimulus plan. Mr. Obama will tour Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Company, which has recently re-tooled to become a major manufacturer of the bolts used in wind turbines. Mr. Obama is expected to use the setting to promote the green energy portions of the over $800 billion stimulus package. The president-elect has called for doubling renewable energy production as a way to create jobs.

Cardinal Fastener president John Grabner says he first heard from the transition team on Monday about a possible visit, and it’s been a crazy week ever since.

GRABNER: I can tell you, no matter what the challenge is, the excitement far outweighs the challenges that we’re facing, but I can also tell you that my life is not my own. They tell me what to do, where to do it, but they just want our story.

Mr. Obama plans to be at the Bedford Heights plant around midday.
