Cleveland City Budget In Good Shape for 2009

Cleveland is projecting it will stay out of the red without either type of belt-tightening. Mayor Frank Jackson today predicted a hiring freeze as well as efforts to cut overtime, reduce energy and travel costs will make layoffs and service reductions unnecessary. But the mayor added that "We are not out of the woods yet." If the economy continues to worsen Cleveland may have to revisit its spending plans. The mayor will submit his 2009 budget to City Council in February.
