New Board for Tuesday Primary

Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner will swear in four new members of the Cuyahoga County Elections board this morning. She chose the Democrats: lawyers Eben McNair and Inajo Davis Chappel. The county Republican Party chose lawyer Jeff Hastings and on Saturday night - their own county chairman Rob Frost. The elections are being managed by the Secretary's office with an interim Elections Director. Just two dozen communities will go to the polls - nine have schools levies. The big issue Summit County is a one-third of one percent income tax hike for the city of Akron. Summit has 10 school levies - most notable is that in Springfield Twp, which could fall into fiscal emergency if its levy fails. Twinsburg has a three way, non-partisan race for Mayor. In Elyria, the eight-year incumbent Mayor is facing a tough primary challenge. In Portage County, Streetsboro is holdings its first ever race for a full time mayor - seven candidates are running.
