Last night's Women's NCAA final started out tight, with Rutgers University and Tennessee answering each teams point with another. But by the end of the first half, Tennessee pulled ahead 11 and never looked back. Tennessee Head Coach Pat Summit, who earned her 947th career win Tuesday, says her team won with a focus on defense and rebounds, with center Nicki Anosike grabbing 16 rebounds, tying her for the third most in Championship history.
Pat Summit: She just took to heart what I said about rebounding wins championships. She was just unbelievable on the boards.
The Most Outstanding Player of the game was Tennessee forward, Candace Parker who sunk 17 points for her team's 59 to 46 win over Rutgers. For NPR News, I'm Lisa Ann Pinkerton in Cleveland.
