Air Pollution and Public Health The American Lung Association's annual "State of the Air" report doesn't necessarily make Northeast Ohioans breathe easy. The Cleveland-Akron-Canton region ranked among the worst 25 areas in the nation for smog and particle pollution. Even after decades of improvement in air quality due to regulation, some say stricter standards are needed to protect health.
