Ohio Headlines: Aviation Classroom, "Pay it Forward" Veterans Parade

IN SOUTHWESTERN OHIO, STUDENTS WILL SOON BE CLIMBING ABOARD A CLASSROOM LIKE NO OTHER. FED-EX HAS DONATED A BOEING 727 AIRCRAFT TO BEAVERCREEK CITY SCHOOLS TO BE USED AS A UNIQUE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

AND NO, THEY'RE NOT TAKING TO THE SKIES. STUDENTS WILL USE THE PLANE TO LEARN ABOUT AVIATION AND AEROSPACE.

THE PLANE IS SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE IN DAYTON LATER THIS MONTH, WHERE IT WILL BE REMODELED INTO A LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. AFTER THE TRANSFORMATION, THE PLANE WILL BE MOVED TO ITS PERMANENT HOME OF WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY, WHERE IT WILL BE OPEN TO CLASSROOMS ACROSS THE REGION.

THIS WEEK WE CELEBRATED VETERANS DAY AND MANY COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE STATE AND NATION HELD PARADES AND CEREMONIES TO HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED.

THAT WAS THE CASE IN COLUMBUS, WHERE THE CITY HELD A PARADE WITH THE THEME OF 'PAYING IT FORWARD', WHICH ORIGINATED FROM THE ACT OF KINDNESS OF 9-YEAR-OLD MYLES ECKERT.

MYLES, WHOSE FATHER DIED WHILE SERVING IN IRAQ, FOUND 20-DOLLARS ON THE GROUND WHILE WALKING INTO A RESTAURANT EARLIER THIS YEAR.
HE NOTICED A MAN DRESSED IN UNIFORM, AND HANDED THE MAN THE MONEY WITH A NOTE THANKING HIM FOR HIS SERVICE. THE MAN WAS OHIO AIR NATIONAL GUARD LIEUTENANT COLONEL FRANK DAILEY.
DAILEY, WHO DONATED THE MONEY, SAYS HE LOOKS AT THE NOTE HE RECEIVED EACH DAY AND HOPES IT INSPIRES OTHERS.
MYLES AND LIEUTENANT COLONEL DAILEY WERE BOTH IN COLUMBUS FOR THE PARADE... BUT NOT AS SPECTATORS. THIS YEAR, THEY WERE INVITED TO BE THE HONORARY GRAND MARSHALS.
