MetroHealth System announced plans today to build an outpatient center on 21 acres off I-77 in the cities of Brecksville and Broadview Heights. The building is expected to open within two years, says MetroHealth Chief Executive Dr. Akram Boutros.
"As Cuyahoga County's public health system, we want to be able to provide care to everyone," Boutros says.
MetroHealth has been expanding its outpatient services to reach patients beyond the system's main campus on the near west side of Cleveland. It opened an outpatient facility in Middleburg Heights this summer and Boutros says that about 45 percent of the patients at that facility are either without insurance or enrolled in Medicaid programs.
The county hospital system has agreed to pay $3.5 million for the property that spans the borders of Brecksville and Broadview Heights. But the city of Brecksville has also agreed to pay an incentive amount of $2.25 million up front. If MetroHealth leaves the property within 10 years, it has to pay Brecksville back.
