Fighting Fat: Counting Calories

In the 1940's, the number one reason why military recruits were turned down was because they were too thin. Today the number one reason why they're turned down is because they're too fat. In today's Plain Dealer, Diane Suchetka reports that the average American consumes nearly 25% more calories today than they did just 40 years ago. All this week, ideastream, the Plain Dealer and WKYC channel 3 are teaming up to cover the obesity epidemic in a series Fighting Fat. Suchetka sat down with ideastream®'s Eric Wellman to talk about why Americans are consuming more calories than they used to.
