Ohio Wants More Than Words On Medicaid Flexibility

Two million low-income and disabled ohioans depend on free medical care through the medi-caid program. Governor John Kasich and other Ohio officials have been asking the federal government for permission to change parts of the medi-caid system here, without suffering a cutback in federal money. They say the changes are needed to help plug a projected 8 billion dollar hole in the next state budget. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has just written Kasich and other governors, hinting that the feds will be flexible--but Ohio medi-caid officials are not feeling especially re-assured. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports.
