Community Research - Health and Wellness Research, From the Bench to the Bedside

10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Community Research - Discover how local experts are engaging in community research to better understand risks for diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease and to improve health within neighborhoods.

This FREE four-part series engages students (Grades 7-12) in exploring how diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease (DOC) discoveries go from the bench (the laboratory) to the bedside (patient care at the doctor’s office or hospital). Local medical researchers and experts from top medical institutions (Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic, Metrohealth Medical Center, and University Hospitals at Case Medical Center) will introduce students to the full spectrum of research by showcasing their DOC studies. Learn how medical experts use laboratory, clinical, population, and community research to advance prevention strategies and treatments for DOC patients.
This program is funded through a Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) through the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
