Matt Pond, Mavis Staples and ‘Straight Yellow Jacket’ Dee Perry welcomes critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Matt Pond who plays tonight at The Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights celebrating the 10th anniversary of his landmark album - Emblems. Plus we share a conversation with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Mavis Staples prior to an appearance by her biographer Greg Kot this weekend at the Rock Hall's Library and Archives. And we hear from the playwright of the new production from Michael Oatman and The New African Theater - Straight Yellow Jacket - for Mental Health Awareness Month.

Matt Pond PA plays The Grog Shop tonight (5/1) in Cleveland Heights with Cleveland’s The Lighthouse and The Whaler sharing the bill.

Greg Kot, author of I’ll Take You There: Mavis Staples, the Staple Singers, and the March up Freedom’s Highway appears at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame‘s Library and Archives Saturday, May 3 at 1pm.

The New African Theater stages Straight Yellow Jacket by Maxie Rockymore at The Garden Valley Neighborhood House May 1-11 for Mental Health Awareness Month.
