2013 Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards Dee Perry welcomes the two fiction and the poetry prize winners of the 2013 Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards. Joining Dee are novelist Kevin Powers who writes about the Iraq War in The Yellow Birds, novelist Laird Hunt who captures the antebellum south in Kind One, and poet Eugene Gloria who explores his Fillipino heritage in My Favorite Warlord.

Apologies to Kevin Powers for incorrectly calling his book The Three Birds rather than the correct title of The Yellow Birds.

The 2013 Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards are given out tonight (9/12) at a SOLD OUT ceremony at The Ohio Theater.

Kevin Powers is the fiction co-winner for his novel The Yellow Birds.

Laird Hunt is the fiction co-winner for his novel Kind One.

Eugene Gloria is the poetry winner for his book My Favorite Warlord.
