Petting Zoo: Cows Clog Highway

Did you know that cows have four different compartments in their stomachs to help them digest all the grass that they eat?

The first stomach compartment, the rumen, breaks down their food partially. Then cows will burp their food back up to chew on it some more before swallowing it to the second compartment - the reticulum.

Next, in the omasum, water is absorbed from the food. Finally, in the abomasum, the food is completely digested. You can learn more here.
