In this week’s show, we asked what time you think middle school should start. Here's what you had to say!
Miles, Orrville Middle School in Orrville: "I think middle school should start early for health purposes. I think this because many kids in our school are waking up at 5:45 a.m. which is very unhealthy. It also helps for kids who walk to school or ride a bike like me and with the time change I had to stop this because of the danger of not seeing, which is another loss of great healthy exercise. Though last off, all my sisters' school has changed time on Wednesday and it showed an improvement in their attitude. So that's why we should change our time."
Desmond, Glenwood Intermediate School in Canton: "I do not think that schools should have the same starting time because we won't have enough buses to transport everyone so bus garages will have to spend a lot of money to buy more buses. This is why we should not have a law saying all schools start at the same time and end at the same time."
Allison, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Eastlake: "I think that middle schools should go to school early around 7:20 a.m. so they can get home earlier to watch the younger ones if a parent is not home. They should also leave school around 2:30 because of how early they get up."
Alexander, Salem-Liberty Elementary in Lower Salem: "I think middle school should start at 8:30. One reason school should start later is because students are more likely to become distracted in class. Another reason is because students could even take naps! These are some reasons middle school should start later."
Alexis, Geneva Middle School in Geneva: "I think school should start at 8 or 8:30 so students aren't falling asleep in class all the time, it will give them an opportunity to sleep in and get rest so they aren't found sleeping or about to fall asleep in class. It will also give students more time to get ready, eat breakfast and spend time with their family in the morning. So, that's just my opinion on what time we should go to school."
