A Plus: Brady’s K9 Fund

READ THE SCRIPT:

Each week we give a shout out to one of you for your awesome work.

This week we applaud a young entrepreneur who combined his love of animals and law enforcement to help dogs on the front lines.

Fourth grade Strongsville-native Brady Snakovsky was watching a television program a few years ago that featured police dogs known as K9s. Brady noticed that the officers were wearing protective vests ... but the dogs were not.

When he learned from his mother that the cost of canine protective vests are too expensive for most police departments, he decided to do something about it.

Brady and his mom Leah started a gofundme campaign to provide a vest to a police dog in need and keep the K9 safe on the job. The average cost is for a vest is around $1500.

Word caught on and police dog handlers from across the country started contacting Brady and Leah to see if they could get vests for their dogs too. This led to the mom and son team to formally starting Brady’s K9 Fund.

The pair have given 107 vests to K9 officers so far. The waiting list continues to grow. Brady says that he’s inspired to continue his work because he knows how helpful the dogs can be.

Well done Brady and Leah! For your work protecting K9 officers ...we’re awarding you this week’s NewsDepth A Plus.
