RICK: PLUMES OF VOLCANIC ASH HANG OVER THE TROPICAL PARADISE OF BALI.
HELLO EVERYONE. I’M RICK JACKSON. THANKS FOR JOINING US.
MORE THAN 20 THOUSANDS RESIDENTS HAVE BEEN MOVED OUT OF THE WAY OF MOUNT AGUNG IN BALI. THE VOLCANO SITS ON THE ISLAND IN INDONESIA, JUST NORTH OF AUSTRALIA.
IT ERUPTED THREE TIMES OVER THE WEEKEND, SHOOTING ASH MORE THAN 4,000 YARDS INTO THE SKY. OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN MONITORING THE VOLCANO FOR WEEKS. WHEN THE DANGER BECAME EVIDENT FLIGHTS TO AND FROM THE ISLAND WERE CANCELLED. THIS LEFT ABOUT 7 THOUSAND PASSENGERS STRANDED.
IF THE ASH IN THE AIR WASN’T ENOUGH, REGULAR RAIN ON THE ISLAND HAS BEEN CAUSING MUD FLOWS AS IT MIXES WITH THE SOOT ON THE GROUND.
STILL AUTHORITIES SAY THE ISLAND IS SAFE.
