Companies Pledge to Help Fight Wildlife Trafficking

Google, eBay and Jet Blue airways are among 13 companies joining the fight against wildlife trafficking…that's the illegal dealing or trading of wild animals. The U.S. Wildlife Trafficking Alliance says the companies will use their areas of expertise and influence in different ways.

For example, Jet Blue plans to educate passengers traveling to trafficking hot-spots like Latin America. The alliance says e-Bay and google are boosting efforts to build algorithms to stop the selling of illegal products.

An algorithm is a step by step method for solving a problem or accomplishing a goal.

One lawmaker says poaching and the black market in wildlife parts is a multi-billion dollar industry.
