John Boehner, House Speaker, Resigns from Congress

House speaker and Ohio congressional representative John Boehner is resigning at the end of October.

Boehner was elected to congress in 1990 as the representative from Ohio's eighth district in the southwest part of the state. He was elected speaker of the House three times, most recently this past January. Boehner, a devout catholic, reached his final decision after presiding over a rare joint session of congress, addressed by Pope Francis. Talks about who will replace Boehner are already underway.
