Maybe you've heard an older student talking about a chemical called formaldehyde, which is stored to preserve specimens in high school science classes among other uses. Well it turns out, it is being used someplace else and that's raising alarms.
The chemical can cause cancer and now we know its being used in manufacturing electronic cigarettes.
There's actually so much formaldehyde in the e-cigs that users could be as much as 15 times more at risk for cancer than long-term cigarette smokers. E-cig supporters say no one would really smoke as much as the researchers tested, but the study adds to growing fears about how the vaporizers impact the health of users.
