South Korea Launches Anti-North Leaflets

The battling nations of North and South Korea are trying to forge a peace agreement, but now the North is warning that it might stop the talks - all because of balloons.

The balloons are being sent over the border by civilians, and contain messages that tell people to defect from the North, and cross the border to freedom in the South. Some of the balloons even contain money to help people who find them to escape.

North Korea says that the South Korean government is behind the leaflet campaign and does not want to negotiate until the messages stop.

Protesters had tried to float more balloons last weekend, which lead to confrontations with their own neighbors who are afraid the North Koreans would strike back.
