The Cleveland Foundation has announced a program that aims to help close the region's digital divide. The multi-part initiative includes $488,000 in grants that will be used toward increasing digital inclusion in Cuyahoga County, helping residents better engage with technology.
The strategy includes:
- Making wifi hotspot devices available for checkout from Cleveland Public Library and Cuyahoga County Public Library branches
- Bringing the organization PCs for People to Cleveland, allowing income-eligible residents to purchase refurbished computers at a discounted price
- Increase internet access and awareness at Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority and CHN Housing Partners
Tracy Strobel, deputy director of Cuyahoga County Public Library, joined ideas to discuss the role of libraries in breaking down the digital divide.
