Nearly 50 years after his assassination, many of Dr. Martin Luther King's companions in the Civil Rights Movement have also passed on, but not all. Those activists included a young minister from Alabama who later became a fixture here in Cleveland, the Reverend Otis Moss Jr., 33 years the pastor at Olivet Institutional Baptist Church.
Moss and King met in 1955. Moss eventually became a Regional Director for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, during the time Dr. King led the organization. He also was the first Chair of the Progressive National Baptist Convention's Civil Rights Commission and Chair of Rainbow Push Coalition's board of directors.
Moss and his wife Edwina, who were married by Dr. King, joined ideas last week to talk about their friend and the America that emerged from the protest movements of the 1950's and 60's.
