According to a new FBI report, hate crimes in 2016 increased by nearly 5 percent with more than 6,121 reported incidents. And more than half of the hate crimes motivated by religion targeted the Jewish population.
With that in mind, Wednesday evening in Beachwood, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland hosted a discussion with Tony McAleer, co-founder of Life After Hate, an organization created by former members of violent far-right extremist movements. Ahead of the discussion, we spoke with Mr. McAleer and Gregg Levine, a member of the Jewish Federation's Community Relations Council.
