Jordan Kit's first job aboard Cleveland's venerable excursion ship the Goodtime III was snack bar attendant. When the line for popcorn and Pepsi died down, he swabbed the toilets. Fast forward five years and the Baldwin Wallace University graduate is now the captain of the ship. He's 26.
Steering the ship is the most important part of his job, and if he does it right the passengers won't even notice. But they will notice another key aspect of his duties: conveying the history of Cleveland, Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga along the route. Kit, who majored in international studies and minored in history, reasearched and narrated tons of facts for passengers to consider as the ship makes its way up the Cuyahoga.
Earlier this week, Jordan Kit took a break from the Goodtime III's helm to speak with landlubber Mike McIntyre about how a liberal arts graduate ended up piloting a 151 foot cruise ship.
