KeyBank Broadway Series, The Brink, Holden Arboretum Tower & Oberlee Telescope

Playhouse Square recently announced their line-up for the 2016 - ’17 KeyBank Broadway Series. That series brings the top touring shows from the Great White Way to downtown Cleveland. In a recent interview for 90.3 WCPN’s Sound of Applause, ideastream’s Dee Perry sits down with KeyBank Broadway Series Executive Producer Gina Vernaci for a look at what’s headed to northeast Ohio…

While U.S. and Cuban relations have recently thawed, in 1962 the drama that played out between America, Cuba, and the Soviet Union almost brought the world to an end.  In this segment of Applause America, we look at an exhibition at the JFK Library in Boston that sheds light on US/Soviet relations during this tense time… “To the Brink.”

The 36-hundred acre Holden Arboretum, which encompasses Lake and Geauga Counties, is ranked as the 13 th largest arboretum in the country.  It operates as a living outdoor museum that promotes the beauty and importance of the forest and wildlife.  Their newly built tower, reaching 120 feet above the forest floor, and a 500-foot-long walkway suspended 65 feet above the ground, both give visitors a very different perspective of the surrounding landscape.

The views from the Holden Arboretum Tower can be breathtaking, but it’s nothing like the OUT OF THIS WORLD view you get from their nearby neighbor, the Geauga County District Park’s - Dark Park, which came about thanks to an amateur astronomer named Norm Oberlee.
