Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse; Devo; Drone Technology

CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART:  We start with a visit to a garden in full bloom at the Cleveland Museum of Art. The exhibit Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse at CMA captures the beauty of the flowers, plants and trees like no other group of painters.

WE ARE DEVO: In 1972, five men disgruntled with the direction the country is going, don futuristic jumpsuits and headgear and emerge from a decaying metropolis to speak out about the de-evolution of man through music. The name they adopt: Devo! Sounds like the plot of a B-movie, but it's the real life story of the new wave band out of Akron, Ohio, which had a string of hits during the 70s and 80s. In recognition of their impact and contribution to the music industry, this summer the City of Akron installed an image of the band outside of a local landmark.

JARED ON DRONE TECHNOLOGY: From an unscheduled landing on the White House lawn, to several cases of interference with helicopter and airplane pilots, consumer drones - a.k.a. quadcopters - have been in the news a lot this year. Even so, those headlines don't begin to touch on how fast the hobby of flying drones is growing, or, what kinds of regulations are needed to deal with the volume.

ART AND UNMANED DRONES: The use of unmanned drones with cameras has taken off.  On this episode of Applause America an architectural photographer shows us how he’s using this technology to capture spectacular views of his home town, Houston, Texas.
