Good morning on this Monday, Feb. 25, 2019. We hope you're not without power on this second day of very high winds.

Sunday’s high winds are beginning to die down.  The National Weather Service has cancelled its high wind warning for the area, but it has a high wind advisory in place for Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties until 1:00 p.m.  West winds of 20 to 30 miles mph with gusts near 50 mph are raking Northeast Ohio.  Wind gusts of 67 miles per hour were recorded Sunday at Cleveland Hopkins Airport.  Nine departing flights have been cancelled through 7:30 a.m. at the airport.

Thousands remain without power, across the region, due to downed power linesFirstEnergy’s website shows the hardest hit county is Cuyahoga, where more than 18,000 customers are in the dark.  Summit County has more than 10,000 outages, Lorain has 884. On Facebook, Cleveland Public Power told frustrated customers they were having problems with feeder cables and were doing the best they could to restore electricity.

Besides taking down power lines, the high winds knocked over trees and damaged propertyThe winds peeled off the roof of an apartment complex in Woodmere.  The Beechmont Towers suffered a fire earlier this year.  WKYC-TV reports an untold number of residents were relocated as a safety precaution.

Ohio native Hannah Beachler won the Oscar for Best Production Design for her work on “Black Panther.”   Beachler grew up in Centerville and is the first African-American to win the award.

Two prominent Clevelanders will be remembered this week, following their deaths last weekend.  Visitation hours are scheduled today and Tuesday in Middleburg Heights for those remembering longtime Plain Dealer food critic Joe Crea. He died Friday of complications due to cancer.  He was 68.  A funeral mass is scheduled Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Parma.   A funeral service for philanthropist and civic leader Henry Goodman will be held Tuesday at Temple-Tifereth Israel in Beachwood.  Goodman served on the boards of Cleveland State University and the Cleveland Orchestra.  He died Saturday at the age of 86.

Weather forecast: High winds and light snow early.  Cloudy skies gradually turn sunny.  High 25.  Tonight, more clouds, low 16.
