Hospitals Collaborate on Workers

Six hospital systems, including MetroHealth Medical Center, University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic, have formed The Northeast Ohio Health, Science, and Innovation Coalition. Gayle Thompkins Agahi, the Clinic's director of government programs, says the hospitals are united in a common goal.

Gayle Thompkins Agahi: And that is to find a way to help the workforce in Northeast Ohio become properly trained and to become eligible to fill these positions.

The partnership hopes to raise $6 to 12 million that it will use to aid employers with recruitment and retention of workers. The group wants to introduce high school students to health careers, offer workplace training to current workers, and recruit adults workers from in and outside the region. The campaign is expected to last three years. Tasha Flournoy, 90.3.
