The Cleveland Foundation has approved a $200,000 grant to Citizens for Our Children's Future. That group is campaigning for a 15-mill, four-year levy that would go towards enacting reforms in the city's beleaguered public and private schools.
The Foundation has been a partner in shaping Mayor Frank Jackson's plans to fix the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, as well as state legislation signed by Governor Kasich in July.
Helen Williams is program director for education for the Cleveland Foundation. She says her organization truly believes the plan is the right one "at the right time".
In a statement, Mayor Jackson thanked the foundation for the grant, which he says will help inform people about the levy and improving schools.
Cleveland voters will decide if they're up for a roughly $300 increase in taxes this November.
