Cleveland police have arrested a man in connection with a quadruple homicide in Slavic Village. They have not released his identity but, in a statement, said he was booked into the Cuyahoga County Jail on aggravated murder charges. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office said David Cousin and his neighbor, Takeyra Collins, died of multiple gunshot wounds. Collins’ two children, ages 6 and 2, died of smoke inhalation from a fire that police believe had been deliberately set.

A woman who was punched in the face and pepper sprayed while being restrained by Cuyahoga County corrections officers last year has sued the county and two officers. Chantelle Glass said officers Idris-Farid Clark and Robert Marsh used unreasonable force against her and violated her First Amendment rights. The suit alleges the officers attacked Glass for repeatedly asking to make a phone call. The attack led to criminal charges against Clark and Marsh.

State officials opened a new testing center for self-driving cars and trucks. The SMARTCENTER near Marysville has miles of roadways and simulated intersections to test autonomous vehicle technology. The $45 million project is being billed as the largest independent automotive proving ground in North America. It’s part of an ongoing effort to make Ohio a leader in self-driving technology.

Five of baseball's six divisions feature deficits of at least five and a half games as play resumes after the All-Star break. That includes the AL Central Division, where the Indians trail the first-place Minnesota Twins by five and a half games. They begin a series at home against the Twins on Friday. The tightest race is in the NL Central, where the Chicago Cubs have a four and a half game advantage over the last-place Cincinnati Reds.
