Art can be inspiring, thought provoking, a source of comfort or a welcome distraction. Northeast Ohio artists and cultural organizations continue to provide various ways to connect online during the pandemic. Here are few opportunities this week.

Talking Art Conservation

There are some challenges with a latex sculpture that has never before been shown in Oberlin College & Conservatory’s Allen Memorial Art Museum. Assistant curator Andrew Gyorody will discuss her research on the piece by the late feminist artist Hannah Wilke with the artist’s sister and a conservator. Join “Reviving a 'Dead' Sculpture: Art, Illness, and Conservation in the Work of Hannah Wilke” online Thursday, Sept. 17, 3 p.m.

Jazz Stream

Cleveland Federation of Musicians, Local 4 will host "An Evening Of Jazz" online Thursday, Sept. 17, 7 p.m. Enjoy the sounds of Jackie Warren, piano, Aidan Plank, bass and Jim Rupp, drums.

Acting Classes with Cleveland Play House

Students of all ages can sign up for online theater programs and workshops with Cleveland Play House, such as a primer on storytelling with puppets or a deep dive into Black playwrights in America. Fall classes begin Saturday, Sept. 19.

Numbers Band Takes Virtual Stage

15 60 75 Numbers Band plays the Jilly’s Music Room live stream Saturday, Sept. 19, 7:30 p.m. With five decades of experience, the band keeps on rocking. This performance is part of the Akron venue’s Saturday series.

Conversation with Robert P. Madison

Learn about the life of Cleveland architect Robert P. Madison in a Cuyahoga County Public Library book discussion. The World War II veteran started the first African-American architectural firm in Ohio, and he joins his biographer, Carlo Wolff, in conversation Monday, Sept. 21, 7 p.m. Prepare for the live online event by reading “Designing Victory” or at least this ideastream story about the memoir.
