Some backers of medical marijuana say they will support Issue 3, the proposed constitutional amendment legalizing marijuana. From our Statehouse Bureau Jo Ingles reports.
The Ohio Rights Group is supporting Issue 3, although it’s hoping to put its own medical marijuana issue on the ballot next year. And television personality Montel Williams, who uses pot to treat his MS, says Ohio patients can’t allow debates over monopolies to get in the way.
“What are we whining about? Are the people whining because they think they aren’t going to have access to make money? If that’s what the whole conversation is about, then let’s all stop for a second and get a grip.”
But Curt Steiner with the group opposing Issue 3 says it’s important for Ohioans to look at all aspects of the issue, including the fact that it specifies ten growing sites that would be put in the constitution.
“Unfortunately for those who support medical marijuana, their wagon is hitched to a bad train.”
