Sittenfeld Continues To Battle Strickland In Democratic U.S. Senate Bid

P.G. Sittenfeld

Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate P.G. Sittenfeld says he's staying in the race despite fellow Democrat, Former Governor Ted Strickland, having a big lead in the polls and potential fundraising. From our Statehouse Bureau Jo Ingles reports.

Sittenfeld says he brings new ideas and perspective to the table and he says Ohioans deserve the chance to vote for him.

"I am a Democrat and I am deeply committed to the progressive principles for which we stand.  Yes, I will compromise with Republicans to get things done but I will never retreat, equivocate or trim my convictions on the causes that count. After all, the last thing this country needs is two Republican parties," Sittenfeld says.

While the 30 year old Sittenfeld didn't mention Strickland is 73, he did make veiled references to it.

"While everyone in Congress need not be a techie, I do wish a few more senators at least knew how to send their own tweets," Sittenfeld says.

The Strickland campaign was contacted but did not want to comment on this story.
