Judge Peter Economus ruled a state law ending Golden Week, the period in which a person could register to vote and cast a ballot, violated the Voting Rights Act. Economus also ordered Secretary of State Jon Husted to offer weekday evening voting hours in the two weeks leading up to the election.

In a separate case, Husted had been ordered this summer to keep polls open in the three days before Election Day.

Under this latest order, early voting in Ohio would begin on Sept. 30.
