The five-part series, reported by Brian Bull, won a Regional Murrow Award in April. In a sound-rich narrative, Bull profiles Cleveland-area residents who are barely getting by between paydays – a fast food worker, a former salesman, a new college grad, and a senior citizen.

Competition for the prestigious award includes commercial and public stations around the country.

Bull has won ten Edward R. Murrow Awards in his 15-year career. This is the second national one he’s received for producing a documentary or series.

"The work of our honorees speaks volumes about the quality and diversity of electronic journalism available today," said RTDNA Executive Director Mike Cavender. "Each winning entry demonstrates how powerful a well-told story can be."

The Edward R. Murrow Awards reflect the principles embodied by Edward R. Murrow, longtime CBS correspondent. Widely recognized as the father of electronic journalism, Murrow was known for his courageous reporting and insatiable desire to find the truth, qualities embodied by the RTDNA awards, which have been presented annually since 1971.
