The production, directed by Victoria Bussert, choreographed by Gregory Daniels, with music direction by Andrew Cooper, features the collaborators’ first foray into “immersive” musical theatre, which seats the audience in the middle of the action.

“Immersive theatre productions have become more and more popular in New York,” explained Bussert. “It's a very visceral and exciting theatrical experience. Since the audience will be integrated into the scenic design, each performance will have its own unique energy.”

MURDER BALLAD is the dramatic story of a love triangle gone wrong centering on Sara, an uptown girl who seems to have it all, but whose downtown past lingers enticingly and dangerously in front of her. The musical explores the complications of love, the compromises we make, and the betrayals that can ultimately undo us.

Conceived by Jonathan Larson Award winner and two-time Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist Julia Jordan with book and lyrics by Jordan and music and lyrics by indie rock singer/songwriter Juliana Nash, MURDER BALLAD is a steamy and fun thriller with a razor's edge.

MURDER BALLAD features a cast of BW music theatre majors and marks the seventh consecutive year for the collaboration between PlayhouseSquare and Baldwin Wallace’s renowned music theatre and arts management programs. The production is double cast, and features current Baldwin Wallace students Kyra Kennedy and Keri Rene Fuller as Sara, Kyle Jean-Baptise and Zach Adkins as Tom, David Zody and Anthony Sagaria as Michael, and Sara Budnik and Nyla Watson as Narrator.

Performances for MURDER BALLAD will be held Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, April 26 at 5 p.m. & 8:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 27 at 7 p.m.
