Authorities say 28-year-old Shetisha Sheeley has been confirmed as the victim found in a grassy field near the intersection of 139th Street and Shaw Avenue. On Monday, 38-year-old Angela Deskins was identified.
Now there’s one more to go.
At the latest press conference, Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Thomas Gilson discussed how records and public input led to Sheeley’s ID.
“Shetisha was identified by fingerprints. We were able to establish --working with East Cleveland Police -- a tentative identification based on the information we shared about tattoos, that permitted a comparison that ultimately lead to her identification.”
Gilson urged patience as they continue examining the third victim’s remains to establish her identity. He says the exact cause of death for all three victims remains under investigation as well.
East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton’s remarks were more personal. He said he’s known Angela Deskins’ family for years, and that they always made sure she was supported throughout her life.
“And just when she entrusted herself to someone – who had the worst of intentions – then and only then did this fate befall her," said Norton. "So we want to remember always that these are just not victims with numbers and names…these are real people with real life stories who we all know, and they’ve got families and loved ones who are hurting.”
35-year-old Michael Madison remains held on a $6 million dollar bond, and stands accused of kidnapping and murdering all three women.
