Among the stranded is Nancy Wilson, from Melbourne, Florida. She and her husband, Tom, originally couldn't get a flight into Cleveland, so instead they flew into Pittsburgh and drove a rental car here, where they visited her sister for Christmas.
But after hours of trying to escape on a standby flight this afternoon, they told ideastream they'll hold out for another flight either Thursday or over the weekend.
"It's just…that's the way it is, that's the way life is," sighs Wilson. "Sometimes you get on lucky side, and sometimes you don't. And the weather's…sigh….a little cold."
Wilson says the bright side is, airline employees have been terrific, and she enjoys being with her sister's family.
High gusts are expected to reduce visibility, and more snow accumulation is expected by Thursday morning.
