The most recent Quinnipiac/New York Times poll shows fewer than 30 percent of Ohioans support that idea, and 88 percent of voters over age 55 say Medicare is a "very" or "extremely important" issue in determining how they'll vote.
Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan, would give seniors a fixed amount of money to buy health insurance. The change wouldn't go into effect for 10 years, and would be part of an overall plan to balance the federal budget.
The vast majority of Ohioans, however, told pollsters Medicare cuts should be minor or none at all.
