Staff at Cuyahoga County's Board of Elections office on Euclid Ave in Cleveland are on the job today to deal with two deadlines. First the building will be staffed to handle last minute vote-by-mail drop-offs or in-person early voting. Those must occur by 4:30 this afternoon. Ballots received today will be considered regular ballots and counted at the conclusion of Tuesday's election. Cuyahoga County Board of Elections director Jane Platten says voters should only bring their completed vote by mail ballots downtown.
Jane Platten: What voters cannot do is take their vote by mail ballot to their voting location. They have to be mailed or brought to board of elections.
Today is also the deadline for the nearly three dozen independent candidates in the county election to turn in a list of valid signatures to get on the November ballot. All but one of the four independents vying for the county executive seat had submitted their signatures as of late Friday.
