The $13 Million dollars allocated is the first installment out of $96 million in federally funded projects over the next two years.
Among those topping the list of recipients is Lincoln Electric, which is to get one million dollars toward building a 300-foot tall wind turbine on its world headquarters campus in Euclid.
Company Chairman John Stropki says the device will provide 10% of the welding giant's power needs.
JOHN STROPKI: The yearly output of this tower is over 6.5 megawatts and would be equivalent to powering 450 homes in the Cleveland area."
Governor Ted Strickland was on hand in Euclid to tout the state's success in landing green energy funding.
GOVERNOR STRICKLAND: "We've made an historic commitment. By 2025, 25% of all electricity sold in Ohio will come from advanced energy sources."
Three other groups also got million dollar grants for wind turbines including one to be build at the Cuyahoga County fairgrounds in Berea. METRO Regional Transit Authority in Akron gets $1 million to install a solar photovoltaic rooftop system, and the Jewish Community Federation is getting $217,000 for solar panels.
