CLEVELAND (AP) - The Republican candidate for Ohio attorney general chose Ohio's most populous county as the site for unveiling his plan for an independent commission on public corruption. That's a hot issue in Cuyahoga County after last month's federal raids on homes and offices of county officials. No charges have been filed.
If elected attorney general, Columbus lawyer Mike Crites would establish an Ohio Public Corruption Commission to investigate possible wrongdoing by state and local officials that might involve felonies. Crites planned to provide details Tuesday in Cleveland. The Republican is running against Democratic Ohio Treasurer Richard Cordray and independent Robert Owens of Delaware. Cordray says Crites' corruption plan is political grandstanding.
