Getting Out the Hispanic Vote

Governor Sila Calderon, flanked by city and state officials, addressed a crowd of about one hundred Hispanic supporters at Cleveland City Hall. She urged the local community to exercise their political power.

Sila Calderon: The Puerto people who transformed the island and who have come here and who have worked - nothing has stopped them. So, let's not have anything to stop us or anybody stop us in our drive to register our people.

Ohio is home to approximately 200,000 Hispanics. Of that, more than a fifth are Puerto Rican. Calderon's $12 million campaign aims to register close to 300,000 voters nationwide by the November election. In Cleveland, Tasha Cook, 90.3.
