The Dropout Dilemma

Ideas: The Dropout Dilemma, produced by WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN ideastream, will air on the stations simultaneously on Monday, May 19 at 9 p.m. During the hour-long “Town Hall” special, educators, community leaders, parents and students will discuss the causes of disproportionately low graduation rates within the region’s urban schools and the most promising approaches being used to address this crisis. The conversation will extend after the broadcast through forums curated by The Civic Commons ideastream, available both online and via social media.

Throughout the program, host Mike McIntyre will engage with both experts and the studio audience to explore the causes, consequences and community investment required to solve the dropout problem in Northeast Ohio. McIntyre also serves as host of The Sound of Ideas® which airs weekdays at 9 a.m. on 90.3 WCPN.

Ideas: The Dropout Dilemma airs in conjunction with the WVIZ/PBS co-production of Facing Forward: A Student’s Story which airs locally on WVIZ/PBS on Tuesday, May 13 at 9 p.m. and nationally on PBS stations beginning in May.
