OKAY, TIME TO HONOR SOME AWESOME STUDENTS. THIS WEEK WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED TO LEARN ABOUT A CLASS OF FIFTH GRADERS FROM MUNROE ELEMENTARY IN TALLMADGE, WHO CREATED A NEWS SHOW CALLED TALLMADGE TV JR.
THEIR TEACHER, LYNN WILLIAMS, TELLS US THAT THE FIFTH GRADE USED GRANT MONEY TO PURCHASE A GREEN SCREEN AND AN IPAD, WHICH ALLOWS THEM TO CREATE DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS FOR THE SHOW. MS. WILLIAMS WRITES THAT, "THE STUDENTS HAVE TAKEN OWNERSHIP OF THIS PROGRAM. THEY WRITE AND FILM THEIR SCRIPTS, COLLABORATE TOGETHER TO MAKE THE SEGMENTS WORK, AND ARE APPLYING FOR ROLES THAT TAKE THEM OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONES."
WE HEARD FROM SEVERAL STUDENTS TOO, INCLUDING ALAINA AND MOLLY, WHO TOLD US THAT THEIR CLASS LOVES OUR SHOW AND THEY LOOK TO NEWSDEPTH FOR INSPIRATION. THANKS, GIRLS. CHECK IT OUT, THEY EVEN DO AN A-PLUS SEGMENT. THE CLASS SHARES THEIR SHOW WITH THE ENTIRE SCHOOL, AND THEY'RE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR GOOD STORIES TO REPORT. MS. WILLIAMS SAYS, "I SEE THE TALLMADGE TV JR. NEWS GROWING EACH WEEK."
STUDENTS: REMEMBER TO BE SAFE, RESPONSIBLE, RESPECTFUL AND ENGAGED.
RICK: WE COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER. HERE AT NEWSDEPTH, WE KNOW FIRSTHAND HOW MUCH WORK IT IS TO PRODUCE A NEWS SHOW, WHICH IS WHY WE WANT TO RECOGNIZE MS. WILLIAMS' FIFTH GRADERS FOR ALL THE EFFORT THEY'RE PUTTING INTO MAKING TALLMADGE TV JR. KEEP UP THE HARD WORK, AND A-PLUS TO YOU.
